Pastor Wade Mobley
Pastor Wade Mobley was born in northern Minnesota and raised in the town of Lake Preston, in east-central South Dakota. While Pastor Mobley considers himself to have been a “church-going agnostic” for most of his early life, three years of instruction in God’s Word at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Arlington, South Dakota brought conviction of sin. He came to personal faith in Christ just after high school graduation at the 1991 Free Lutheran Youth convention in Estes Park, Colorado.
Pastor Mobley attended four years at South Dakota State University (Brookings, South Dakota), studying electrical engineering, physics, math, and physical education. During this time, Pastor Mobley also pursued career in coaching basketball, coaching numerous elementary and middle school teams and serving as assistant boy’s basketball coach at Brookings (SD) High School from 1993-1995.
While pursuing his coaching career in 1995, Pastor Mobley perceived God’s call to attend the Association Free Lutheran Bible School (AFLBS), a two year school of the Bible located in Plymouth, Minnesota. He graduated in 1997 and served on staff until 2002, including two years as Athletic Director and Men’s Basketball Coach. After receiving a degree in history at Northwestern College (St. Paul, MN), Pastor Mobley completed studies at the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary (Plymouth, MN), concluding in 2003 with a one year internship in southern California.
Pastor Mobley met his wife, Michele Deubner of rural Brockton, Montana while serving together on staff at AFLBS. The Mobley’s were married in 2000 and have served together at Living Word Free Lutheran Church in southwest Sioux Falls, South Dakota since their call in June 2003.
Pastor Wade and Michele love raising their two children. In May 2009 they adopted their daughter Hannah Rose. Eight and one half months later they welcomed their son Benjamin Paul into the world. God has a sense of humor!
Pastor Mobley loves shepherding a group of Christ-followers who proclaim the Living Word and serve the Living God. He is passionate about multiplication and church planting, believing the Scriptural instruction for pastors to equip believers for ministry (Ephesians 4:11) and to teach faithful people who will in turn teach others (2 Timothy 2:2).
